10 servings
- 600 g (21 oz) wholemeal flour
- 300 g (10 ½ oz) veggie margarine, diced
- 2 tablespoons sugar
- 8 tablespoons water
- A pinch of salt
- 1 kg (2.20 lb) red apples, peeled, cored and chopped
- 2 tablespoons sugar (or more, if you like it)
- 3 teaspoons cinnamon
- 1 slice lemon
Put the wholemeal flour on a clean surface. Make a well in the center and add the diced margarine, the sugar and a pinch of salt. Knead until the mixture is almost smooth. Add the water and knead again until it is completely smooth. Cover with a table cloth and let it rest in the fridge for 30 minutes.
For the filling:
Place the chopped apples, the slice of lemon, the sugar and the cinnamon in a frying pan. Let them cook over medium heat until they are reduce to a jam.
Bring out the dough from the fridge, divide it into two parts and roll them up. Use one half to cover a medium tart mould (previously greased and floured). Fill with the apples and cinnamon mixture and cover with the other half.
Bake in the preheated oven at 180°C (350°F/Gas Mark 4) for about 30 minutes or until golden.
